WGBH Boston first hit the airwaves in October 1951 with a live radio concert by the Boston Symphony Orchestra. WGBH holds the licenses for eight broadcast operations, and is the source of one-third of all prime-time programming seen on public television nationwide, including such series as Frontline, Nova, and Antiques Roadshow.
