Our mission is to lead the Northern Illinois community in solving hunger by providing nutritious meals to those in need through innovative programs and partnerships. We collaborate with 900 member food pantries, soup kitchens, schools and other sites in 13 counties. In FY18 we provided 66 million meals to serve 70,000 different people each week. Northern Illinois Food Bank has 4 centers where we welcome volunteers to help sort and pack food for our neighbors in Geneva, Park City, Rockford and Joliet.
This year, we will be rated as a 3-star charity which means that we "exceed or meet industry standards and perform as well as or better than most charities in the cause." This change is due to our meal growth and we are proud that we are closing the meal gap in Northern Illinois and rapid growth in meal distribution is no longer necessary. As we sustain enough food for our neighbors we look forward to new programs to address nutrition and the overall health and stability of our community.
