Empowering people to save the natural world.
Earthwatch Institute
Earthwatch Institute is an international organization that brings science to life for people concerned about the Earth's future. Founded in 1971, Earthwatch supports scientific field research by providing research grants to scientists while also offering everyday volunteers the opportunity to work alongside them on conservation efforts around the world. This unique model is creating a systematic change in how the public views science and its role in environmental sustainability. Earthwatch volunteers help collect field data in the areas of climate science, rainforest ecology, wildlife conservation, marine science, archaeology, and more, in order to guide sustainable and effective restoration and management plans and government policies. Through this process, Earthwatch educates, inspires, engages and empowers a diversity of people in actively working to conserve our planet in their communities and throughout their daily lives.
