Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory
A research and educational institution
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory
Founded in 1890, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) is a private institution with research programs in cancer, neuroscience, plant genetics, genomics, and bioinformatics and a broad educational mission. We are at the forefront of efforts in molecular biology and genetics to generate knowledge that will yield better diagnostics and treatments for cancer, neurological diseases and other major causes of human suffering, and that will lead to improved and more diverse food resources and more efficient biofuels. Each year 12,000 of the world's leading life scientists attend CSHL's legendary Meetings and Courses program and seminal Banbury conferences to present and evaluate new data and ideas in biological research. CSHL's Watson School of Biological Sciences trains the next generation of scientists through an innovative Ph.D. program and other educational offerings, while the DNA Learning Centers educate the public about genetics through the nation's first science centers dedicated to this purpose. The CSHL Press publishes textbooks, laboratory manuals, and research journals that are among the most highly cited in their fields.
