Birch Community Services
The Sustainable Families Program
Birch Community Services
Our Mission is to provide a community where people can be responsible and accountable for meeting their basic needs, and to equip them with tools to overcome financial difficulty.

Founded in 1996, Birch Community Services, Inc. (BCSI) is serving struggling working families in the Portland Oregon Metro area. They offer help for today and hope for tomorrow. The families in the BCS program can select nutritious foods to feed their families, acquire job and financial management skills, volunteer regularly to help at the BCS warehouse, and help other working struggling families in the program. Birch Community Services, Inc. also offers a variety of cooking classes including canning, meal planning, and ethnic cooking, sewing and quilting classes and gardening classes in their two community gardens.
